Train the Facilitating Trainer
Course Overview
This course is for professionals who want to become a facilitator, delivering the 1-day Tier 2 Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training to other professionals in this sector.
Delivered by qualified trainers from Skills Provider and co-delivered with an autistic co-trainer and a co-trainer with a learning disability.
Only lead trainers can train Facilitating Trainers and co-trainers with lived experience to deliver the Tier Two one-day training. As experienced individuals in the field of learning disability and autism and through their experience in delivering tier two training for NHS England.
Please note that attending the Train the Facilitating Traner training course does not guarantee certification. During the course participants will need to demonstrate their knowledge and confidence in learning disability and autism and actively participate in discussions and activities. Participants will also need to complete quality assessments to demonstrate competence at the end of the learning disability and autism sessions and on completing the training.
Aims And Objectives
The aim of becoming a facilitating trainer is to enhance the understanding of learning disabilities and autism, by delivering The Oliver McGowan Training to others.
The training will enable facilitating trainers to do the following:
- Familiarise themselves with the content of The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism Tier 2.
- Enhance their own knowledge of learning disabilities and autism.
- Acknowledge and understand the value of co-production and teamwork.
- Develop skills in delivering part two of The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism Tier 2.
Course Outline
Day 1: Learning about the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism Tier 2.
- Learning disability session
- Autism session
Day 2: Learning about delivering The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism Tier 2.
- Discussing the content of the learning disability session.
- Discussing the content of the autism session.
- Co-facilitating the sessions.
- Answering questions.
Course Pre-Requisites
Oliver’s training is about awareness and understanding and does not include training about treatments or specific interventions. It will give staff the right knowledge and skills to Train Staff to deliver Oliver McGowan Tier 2 mandatory training, ensuring people with a Learning Disability and/or Autism have positive health and social care interactions.
This Training will enable you to become an approved trainer via Health Education England – Oliver’s Campaign and hold a unique PIN to deliver this.
You will still need to work with trained and approved co-trainers (individual with Autism and / or an individual with learning disabilities) to enable you to deliver Oliver McGowan Tier 2 Mandatory training.
Mode of Delivery
This training is delivered exclusively through face-to-face workshops, ensuring an interactive and engaging learning environment. Our commitment to hands-on learning allows participants to develop practical skills and engage in real-time discussions.
Every Workshops is supported via an experienced and accredited Oliver McGowan Trainer as well as 2 co-trainers who are experts with lived experience.
