Level 3 Award In First Aid At Work

The purpose of this qualification is to prepare the Learner to develop the skills and knowledge needed to take on the role of first aider in the workplace. It is also ideal for people who have a specific responsibility to provide first aid in voluntary and community activities.
Learners should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of first aider The qualification covers knowledge such as the roles and responsibilities of the first aider, how to assess an incident and recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness. The qualification also covers first aid skills in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness such as chest injuries, spinal injuries and anaphylaxis.
 
How is it assessed?
 
The qualification will be assessed using a range of methods. This could include a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task/activities.
